Wearing the sacred thread from left shoulder to the right crossing the chest (upanayana samskara). Upanayana literally means "the act of leading to enlightenment near the eye (eyesight / vision / third-eye / pineal gland)".

This 3-hour ritual was conducted by two Brahmin priests in Rishikesh. The ritual includes a fire-pit ceremony, a full puja and a series of baths: – curds, honey, milk, cow urine, manure slurry, turmeric, etc. All baths are poured from bowls over the head and separated by a warm water rinse.
