If you cannot listen for at least a few minutes daily, do not take up Gayatri Mantra at all.
First, LISTEN to the Gayatri Mantra at least once per day
(sunrise, noon or sunset) - for at least 27x (7 min) if not 108x (28 min).

then, LISTEN and CHANT along if you wish, again at least 27x, if not all 108x.
These are the beginning steps to the quickest way to gain basic spiritual enlightenment, to avoid rebirth and to eventually attain Unity Consciousness.

The evolving mind, psychology, emotions and physiology, from time to time, may experience some "upset", some challenge. This is normal. The Yoga of Devotion practice offers a silent Gayatri Mantra Therapy to overcome these challenges.
We begin with 5-minutes of Default Meditation.
In a settled room, a quiet place or even a large closet, sit comfortably…OR SIMPLY SIT UPRIGHT IN BED.

the .’default mode network’ is best known for being active when a person is not focused on the outside world and the brain is at ‘wakeful rest’, such as during daydreaming or mind-wandering.

Learn the Gayatri Mantra in the context of the Yoga of Devotion (Bhakti) NOT the Yoga of Knowledge (Jnana)!
According to Bhagavad Gita, the path of bhakti-marga, is superior to the two other approaches to enlightenment - the path of knowledge (jnana) and the path of ritual and good works (karma).

The Default Meditation experience of ‘wakeful rest’ is available and
easily attainable by way of the human brain system itself. However, if
we choose, we can expand on this ‘wakeful rest’ in many ways.
Gāyatrī mantra is apauruṣeyā (not of human, not prophecy; Vedic.). The biblical "Word" is the Vedas! Human physiology is an expression of the Vedas but Veda is uncreated, eternal and non-changing.
Many otherwise healthy people are experiencing some "roughness" or some "upset" due to a world that is obviously in transition.
Default meditation (5 mins) and silent Gāyatrī mantra (15 mins) can be useful for most people but not everyone (see the post description).
Make use of them separately or together and you will feel better.
